WordPress Design
Services2026
Most freelancers are either designers who can't code, or developers who can't design. I do both. What I design is exactly what gets built . Same person, same brain, from the first wireframe to the final launch. I'm Muhammad Younus, a freelance WordPress designer with 400+ completed projects on Upwork, a 99% job success rate, and $100K+ in verified earnings. Design + development. One person. No handoff.
What WordPress Design Services Do I Offer?
I provide 6 core WordPress design services covering everything from a single landing page to a full brand identity system. Here's how my design work breaks down across 400+ projects:
Custom Homepage and Landing Page Design
Your homepage carries the weight. I design homepages with one goal - move the visitor's eye from the headline to the CTA without making them think too hard. Hero communicates value in under 5 seconds. Trust signals sit where eyes naturally go. CTAs at scroll depths where people act.
Full Website Design with Brand Identity
A full site design isn't just making pages look nice separately. It's building a visual system where your logo, colors, fonts, and image style feel consistent everywhere. Header, footer, buttons, section layouts - everything belongs together.
WordPress Redesign for Existing Sites
Redesigns make up 27% of what I do. Here's what matters: your SEO. I've seen people lose 60% of organic traffic because someone broke the URL structure. I build the new design on a staging site, keep every URL intact, and switch over in under an hour.
Responsive Mobile-First Design
Over 59% of web traffic globally comes from mobile. On sites I design, that number runs closer to 67%. I start with mobile - typography readable on small screens, buttons you can actually tap, single-column layouts. Google's been using mobile-first indexing since 2023.
UI/UX Design and Conversions
A pretty website that confuses people is worse than an ugly website that's easy to use. Forrester found good UX delivers 9,900% ROI. Directional cues toward your CTA. Contrast that makes buttons impossible to miss. Forms that don't ask for 15 fields when 3 would do.
Design System and Component Library
I don't just design individual pages. I build a complete design system you can reuse. Button styles, card layouts, section templates, spacing rules, all documented. When you need a new page six months from now, everything stays consistent without hiring a designer again.
How Does My Design Process Work?
Five phases. Every project. No exceptions. I don't skip steps because that's how you end up redoing work.
Discovery Call
30 minutes. I ask about your business, customers, competitors, and what you're trying to accomplish with this website. I'll look at your current site if you have one. I'll pull up 2 or 3 of your competitors and point out what's working in their design and what isn't. And here's something most designers forget to ask: what DON'T you like? Show me websites that make you cringe. That saves us a revision round right there.
Competitor Review
Pull up your competitors, identify what works
Brand Assets
Logo, colors, fonts, images you already have
Anti-Inspiration
Show me what you hate. Saves revision rounds
Wireframe and Layout
Before any colors or images show up, I create wireframes. Grayscale layouts. Just boxes and lines showing where the header goes, where the hero section sits, where CTAs land, how the content flows. Why do this first? Because moving a section on a wireframe takes 5 minutes. Moving it after colors and images and styling are in place takes hours. I've watched agencies charge clients for that kind of rework. Not here.
Grayscale Layouts
Boxes and lines showing structure, no distractions
Content Flow
Where headers, hero sections, and CTAs land
Quick Changes
5 minutes to move a section vs hours after styling
Visual Design in Elementor
Once the wireframe's approved, I build the visual design directly in Elementor on a staging site. Real colors, real fonts, real images, real content. You see exactly what your website will look like on an actual screen. Most designers create a mockup in Figma or Photoshop and then hand it to a developer who tries to recreate it. The final site never quite matches. That gap doesn't exist with me because the mockup IS the development. Same tool, same person.

No Translation Gap

Brand Consistency
Every page feels like it belongs to the same brand
Your Feedback and Revisions
Every project includes 2 to 3 revision rounds. I'll walk through the design with you on a video call, explain why I made certain layout choices, and take your notes. Most projects wrap up within 2 rounds. Across all my projects, the average is 2.3 cycles. All revisions happen at the mockup stage, before the technical development locks in. Changes at this point are fast and free within your included rounds.

Build, Test, Launch
Design gets approval, I handle the rest. Responsive breakpoints for every screen size. Speed optimization so the design doesn't tank your load time. SEO setup including headings, schema, meta tags, and image compression. Cross-browser testing on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Your site goes through a 25-point checklist before it goes live. After launch, you get 14 days of free support for anything that needs tweaking.

Most designers skip straight from "here's a Figma mockup" to "here's your invoice." I show you the real site on a real screen before you pay a dollar. What you approve is what goes live. No surprises.

Design pricing depends on scope. A single homepage is different from a full 10-page brand identity project. Agencies charge $3,000 to $15,000 for website design. GoDaddy starts at $1,499 for basic 5 pages. Here's what I actually charge.

What Makes Good WordPress Design in 2026?
Design isn't just taste. There are measurable principles behind why some websites convert visitors and others don't. Here's what I build every design around.
Visual Hierarchy and Typography
Guide the eye, set the tone
Headline first, CTA second. Size, weight, and spacing create hierarchy, not drop shadows everywhere
Color Psychology
Colors drive behavior
Blue builds trust. Green signals growth. Orange creates urgency on CTAs. I pick colors based on your business goals, not trends
Whitespace and Breathing Room
Less is more
Wichita State University found whitespace increases comprehension by 20%. Layouts feel premium. The eye gets rest between sections
Performance and Design Weight
Speed is a design choice
Astra under 50KB. 2 font families. WebP images. CSS animations over JavaScript. Google says bounce jumps 32% going from 1s to 3s load
These aren't abstract theories. Every design choice on your site should be justifiable. If I can't explain why a section is laid out a certain way or why a color was chosen, it shouldn't be there.
Custom Design vs Premium Theme vs DIY Builder
Three ways to get a WordPress website designed. Each has trade-offs. I'm not going to pretend DIY doesn't exist or that agencies are always bad. Here's what actually matters.
Designer = Developer
Most agencies have a designer create mockups in Figma, then hand them to a developer who tries to recreate it. The final site never matches. With me, the person designing IS the person building. Zero translation gap.
No Overhead Tax
Agency pricing includes project managers, account executives, office rent, and profit margins that never touch your website's design. When you hire me, every dollar goes toward making your site look better and convert higher.
Speed Without Shortcuts
Agencies take 6-16 weeks because approvals go through layers. I take 2-3 weeks because decisions happen on a single call. Faster delivery, same quality, no corners cut.
Same design quality, fraction of the cost. Custom brand identity, conversion-focused layouts, SEO built in, and a designer who builds what they design. Not three people playing telephone with your vision.
How Does Web Design Impact Conversions and Revenue?
Design isn't decoration. It directly affects how much money your website makes. Adobe found 38% of visitors leave a site if the design is unattractive. Here's what the research says.
First Impressions
Google research shows users form an opinion about your website in 50 milliseconds. That first visual impression determines whether they stay or leave. Professional design creates instant credibility.
Google/NN Group ResearchTrust and Credibility
Stanford research found 75% of users judge a company's credibility based on website design alone. Not content. Not product quality. The visual design. Whitespace, typography, and color choices signal whether you're trustworthy.
Stanford Web CredibilityConversion Rate
Forrester found every $1 invested in UX returns $100. Good design reduces bounce rates, increases time on site, and moves visitors toward your CTA. Small changes to button placement and form length can double conversions.
Forrester ResearchSEO and Google Rankings
Google uses Core Web Vitals as ranking signals. CLS (visual stability), LCP (loading speed), and INP (interactivity) are all influenced by design choices. Heavy images, layout shifts, and unoptimized fonts tank your rankings.

WebP images, 2 fonts max, CSS animationsHow Do Design Decisions Affect Your SEO Rankings?
Most designers don't think about SEO. They make it pretty and let someone else figure out rankings. That's how you end up with a beautiful website on page 4 of Google. Every design choice I make considers search performance.
Heading Hierarchy in Design
Font sizes match H1-H3 SEO structure visually
Image Weight vs Quality
WebP format, compressed without visible loss
Layout Shift Prevention
Explicit dimensions on all images and embeds
Font Loading Strategy
2 families max, font-display swap, no FOUT
Above-Fold Content Priority
Hero loads first, below-fold deferred
Mobile Touch Targets
48px minimum tap areas for mobile usability
Lazy Loading Below Fold
Images load as user scrolls, not all at once
Whitespace for Readability
Line height, paragraph spacing affect dwell time
CSS Animations Over JS
Lighter animations that don't block main thread
Responsive Breakpoints
Desktop, tablet, mobile all tested for CLS
Color Contrast Accessibility
WCAG AA minimum, helps SEO accessibility score
Visual Content Hierarchy
Design guides crawlers through content priority
Largest Contentful Paint
Your hero image is usually the largest element. I use WebP format, proper sizing, and preload hints so the main visual loads fast. Heavy sliders and carousel designs tank this score.
Interaction to Next Paint
Fancy animations and heavy JavaScript effects slow down how fast buttons respond to clicks. I use CSS animations instead of JS wherever possible. Your design stays smooth without killing interactivity.
Cumulative Layout Shift
Ever see a page jump around while loading? That's CLS. I set explicit dimensions on every image and reserve space for fonts loading. Your layout stays rock solid from first paint to full load.
A beautiful design that loads in 5 seconds loses to an average design that loads in 1.5 seconds. Every time. I design for both eyes and algorithms. Your site looks great AND ranks.

Why Should You Hire Me as Your WordPress Designer?
There are designers who make things pretty and developers who make things work. I do both. Here's why that matters for your business.
Designer Who Builds
Most designers hand off a Figma file and hope the developer builds it right. I design it AND build it myself in Elementor. Zero translation gap between what you approve and what goes live. What you see in the mockup is what you get on your site.
Design for Conversions, Not Awards
Pretty designs that don't convert are a waste of money. Every layout I create has strategic CTA placement, visual hierarchy that guides the eye, and mobile-first responsiveness. I test on real devices, not just browser previews. Design decisions backed by data, not just taste.
8+ Years of Design Experience
Not a weekend course graduate. Not someone who watched YouTube tutorials last month. 8+ years designing for real businesses across 15+ industries, verified by Upwork with real client reviews.
2-3 Weeks, Not 2-3 Months
Agencies take 8-16 weeks and charge 5x more. I deliver complete custom designs in 2-3 weeks because there's no project manager, no creative director, no account executive in the chain. Just you telling me what you need and me designing it.
SEO Knowledge Most Designers Lack
Most designers don't know what Core Web Vitals are. I understand LCP, CLS, INP, and how every design choice affects your Google rankings. Image weight, font loading, layout shifts, mobile usability. Your site looks great AND ranks.
What Should You Check Before Hiring a WordPress Designer?
Use this checklist before hiring any WordPress designer. It'll save you thousands in bad design decisions whether you work with me or not.
Ask to See 3 Live Websites They Designed
Not Dribbble mockups. Not Figma files. Live URLs you can visit on your phone right now. Check if the sites load fast, look professional on mobile, and have clear calls to action. If they only show screenshots, keep looking.
Check If Their Designs Convert or Just Look Pretty
Visit their portfolio sites. Can you find the contact form within 5 seconds? Is there a clear CTA above the fold? If their own client websites don't have obvious conversion paths, they're designing for looks, not business results.
Ask Who Builds What They Design
Many designers hand off a Figma file to a separate developer. That means your approved design gets interpreted by someone else. Ask if the same person designs AND builds. If not, expect gaps between what you approved and what goes live.
Ask About Mobile Design Process
Over 60% of your traffic is mobile. Ask if they design mobile-first or just shrink the desktop version. Check their live sites on your phone. If buttons are too small, text is unreadable, or you have to pinch and zoom, that's a dealbreaker.
Verify They Understand SEO and Speed
Ask them what Core Web Vitals are. Ask about image optimization. If they can't explain how design choices affect Google rankings, they'll build you a beautiful site that nobody finds. Design without SEO awareness is just digital art.
This checklist works whether you hire me or not. But if you run it against my work, you'll find 400+ live websites, a designer who codes his own builds, mobile-first process on every project, and SEO baked into every design decision. That's why clients keep coming back.
